Orlando Travel and Hotel Packages
1. Sheraton Studio City Hotel Orlando, Disneyland
For the price we paid by bidding on price line for this hotel, we rented three rooms, we feel that we well received our money’s worth and then some. Sabrina at the front desk and Vanessa and Alexandria in the restaurant are great and always willing to help the guest. The staff overall was very accommodating. The hotel was in a moderately nice area where I felt safe, with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. None of us had anything missing from our rooms and we did not use the safe so that is a plus. If you want a refrigerator and microwave, request it on the first night of check in. You will likely end up with a refrigerator, but microwaves are in short supply. The restaurant’s food is pretty good especially the omelet and waffle bar for breakfast, and the chicken soup and pork chops for dinner. Also nicely portioned kid’s meals are only $2.95 in the restaurant with choices of corn dog (2), chicken tenders, grilled cheese, or macaroni. If you order room service be prepared for a 22% gratuity and a $2.00 delivery fee, which isn’t too bad because their prices aren’t bad. The hotel is in a central location, probably 5 minutes from Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, and 15 minutes from the Disney Parks. For the price we paid $, I would definitely stay again.
2. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona, USA.
Regardless of how you view the Grand Canyon – braving the river rapids, hiking from rim to rim, riding a mule or stopping your car at lookouts – you won’t leave without experiencing the wonderment that this awe-inspiring gorge evokes in the millions of visitors who come to see it each year. The majestic canyon, an ever-changing display of colors, stretches nearly 280 miles from end to end, is ten miles wide on the average and descends 6,000 feet at its deepest point.
3. Hilton Orlando Resort Lake Buena Vista, Disney World
I would like to respectfully disagree with those who have stated that there are problems with this hotel. We arrived around lunch-time on a busy Saturday, and were met with immediate kindness and understanding by one of the four front desk agents that were working. Our check-in process was incredibly smooth, and within a few minutes we had pre-paid the $8.00 hotel parking fee for the week and were on our way to our hotel room.
We had reserved the room through Expedia, and paid for bare minimum, so we were not surprised to find that we had a lovely view of Interstate 4 and the hotels beyond from our window. We called the front desk and inquired about being changed to a Downtown Disney view room and we were advised that none was available. After thinking about how little we would be in the room over the week, we decided to stay put.
We did have a few little problems with the room as the week progressed. As another reviewer noted, the drawers in one of our bureaus would not close all the way, and after two days we returned one afternoon to find that our store-bought sodas were no longer cold because the refrigerator stopped working. We also discovered that our toilet seat was not attached to the bowl on one side when we checked in. Each of these situations was reported to the front desk, and each was quickly remedied by the very competent maintenance staff.
While I will say that there seemed to be a large number of convention attendees present in the hotel, at no time did I feel, as other reviewers have put it, “that the hotel was not one for families.” I felt welcomed by the very helpful staff, and in most cases, the hotel guests attending the conventions going on were more personable and friendly than the families I encountered.
The hotel itself has a well-appointed lobby, tasteful – if a little outdated – decor, and seems to do very well in meeting its guests’ needs. One very minor complaint is in regard to the hotel’s guest laundry facilities. As a family of four staying for eight days in Orlando, we packed relatively light in anticipation of being able to do laundry at the hotel. When we went to the “laundry room,” we found that it was located off of the video arcade, was not much bigger than a large closet, and contained only four washing machines and four dryers. For a hotel of its size, this surprised me. Nonetheless, we put laundry in the washing machine, and moved it to the dryer one evening. When I went back downstairs, I was dismayed to discover that the arcade closes at 11pm, which includes the laundry facilities. I was unable to collect my clean clothes until the following morning. This seemed a little unusual to me, but was only a minor hiccup in our vacation.
Overall, I would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to others. Our stay was very nice, especially for the price we paid, and I would certainly consider staying here again for future visits to the Walt Disney World parks.
4. Radisson Hotel Orlando-Lake Buena Vista
Don’t waste your time looking for better place to stay if you are planning to visit the Wonderful Disney Parks. It’s a perfect location if you fly into MCO, or just drive in. Right off the highway, yet very quiet. Very close to all nice Restaurants and some Great Discount shopping ‘if you have time’. The complimentary shuttle to Magic Kingdom or Epcot was just perfect. Last pick up from Magic Kingdom parking is at 10:45 and is just enough time to get back from Mickey’s play ground after the fireworks. Our whole experience with the Radisson Buena Vista could be easily rated as 10. After the long day walking you can relax in the nice pool on the property. Free Internet with all new machines a great Bonus!
5. Florida Hotel and Conference Center, Orlando Florida
Excellent in all regards. Rooms were clean, modern, and spacious will all the amenities exceeding the expectations of most business travelers. However, travelers should note that wifi isn’t available in the rooms above the 3 floor. Complimentary wired internet (CAT5) is available and works quite well. The restuart (Crickets) is an excellent place to unwind and dine after a long day at work. Very friendly staff with a super happy hour package (1/2 price food and drink) from 5 PM until 9 PM. The hotel staff is has been excellently trained and know how to treat business travelers.
6. The Eldon Luxury Suites, Washington, DC
Absolutely beautiful! Great location – close to everything. We did a one night stop over in Washington on our way to Richmond. The Eldon was perfect! We walked around the city in the evening and again the next morning. Now planning a girls weekend to Washington and will be staying at the Eldon for the entire time.
7. Miami, Florida, USA
Whether you’re into sports, sunshine or salsa, Miami sizzles all year long with exciting entertainment venues and attractions, world-class hotels and restaurants, great beaches and a nightlife that never sleeps. While South Beach, chock full of hip nightclubs and pastel-hued buildings, gets all the press, other sections of Miami are just as hot and offer culture, recreation and more. Spend the day soaking in the sights and sounds of Little Havana or soaking up the rays at Haulover Beach Park.
8. Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West
Everything about this hotel was fantastic. The room was wonderful. The bed was great. I really like this hotel. The staff was professional and nice. They made sure my stay was comfortable. The wait staff for breakfast was fantastic. I just loved this hotel. The next time I’m in the area, I plan to stay here again.
9. Aparthotel Acacia, Barcelona, Spain
This hotel is a great place to stay in Barcelona..quiet neighborhood, Metro station within a block to the hotel. The pictures depicted the accomodations exactly. Tha bed was comfortable, albiet low to the floor, but that’s fairly typical for Europe. The small sofa wasn’t that comfortable.Internet access was good. The staff were friendly and knowledgable of any item I requested. We didn’t eat there, breakfast was pricey, but, the kitchenette was nice to have and you can get a microwave on request. There are several restaurants in the vicinity and some great pastry shops. We stayed here before a cruise for 4 days. Then upon return, following a HUGE SNAFU from the rental car co., we called and they were so kind and said, “of course, come on over”. After the rude and aggrogant treatment from the rental car folks, it’s was great to be treated so well. It’s cheaper to book with the hotel directly. (which we found out on our second stay!!) I feel sure we would stay here again!!
10. Howard Johnson Hotel Boutique Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
My biggest concern when staying in a hotel is location and cleanliness. This hotel went above and beyond my expectations. It was very central (4 blocks to the cemetery and a few more to ‘Avenida Santa Fe’ (great shopping). The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They set up our tours, organized taxis and the kitchen staff were happy to prepare items not on the breakfast menu!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable and went above my expectations.
